Have you ever had a headache? Pain of tooth? Diarrhea? Gastritis? Ulcer? Cancer? Depression? It was hit by a car? You’ve been fired? Are you homosexual? My friend, if you already had two of the “symptoms” above is because the devil is trying to take your soul to hell.
Yes, the devil, that creature red, with horns, tail and a trident. He and millions of demons are on the loose and cause all the problems in our lifes. At least that is what millions of Brazilians called neo-evangelicals believe.
The religious group, which has more than 50 different names, soared in the 70, 80 and 90 here in Brazil, especially among the poor who live in the suburbs of large cities. They are tens of millions of people with low education and poor who are handed to despair and now share a fanatical faith, that promises everything to his followers, like a place in heaven.
It is a peculiar Christian group, especially in a Catholic country like Brazil. It is easy to identify them, especially women (in some groups shaving their legs is a sin). Condemn all that is mundane, distancing themselves from their friends and are required to donate 10% or more of their wages to their pastors. Their churches are noisy, very noisy. When one is installed in a particular neighbourhood, the buildings come to devalue, as the yelling and sessions of “exorcism” are common in worship them. Some of them come out preaching the word of “God” in public squares and on trains, screaming like crazy and seeing the devil in everything.
The natural enemies of these are religious Catholics and practitioners of african-Brazilian religions such as Candomblé. But we must not lose sight of homosexuals, they loathe gay people, unless those who have been “cured” from the homosexuality. But the biggest enemy of them is the Science and information. The brainwashed practised by those who believe in religions makes its well-trained sheep, which are mobilised very quickly. Their pastors know very well how to benefit from it, unfortunately.
More and more is coming to the surface, through the media, cases of money laundering, drug trafficking, slave labour and child abuse involving these so called pastors. The leaders of these religious groups engage in politics, electing deputies and governors. They then return favors, such as granting of radio and television broadcasters. And many of them support the actions of the Rio police, who only last month killed 144 alleged bandits. The fanaticism and fascism of many of them is something that frightens.
This is more a portrait of the inefficiency of the Brazilian government. A country that prefers to spend $ 200 billion to pay interest on foreign debt and only $ 20 bi in Education. If there were more people having access to quality education, such events do not occur. And the Sponge Bob would not be seen as a representative of the devil. Yes, Bob is one sent by the devil, as well as Kitty Kat, Shrek, Yu-Gi-Oh, The Lion King, Darwin, Chupa-cabra, Naruto, etc...
