Indeed! This Virada Cultural is the most important event in Sao Paulo, not only because of the number of people that participates, but because it shows how the government can ”repay” to the citizens.

Come to think of it, Brazilian government has not been really bad. In fact after the tumultuous period during dictatorship, the country has moved so ahead. Its still unbelievable

Very slowly things are changing in Brazil. But in places like Sao Paulo (because of all money), things change faster and for better.

Celso, that is because Sao Paulo is the showcase city of Brazil. It has to be all shiny and glittery! That is the place which attracts a number of investors too..

Well, Rio is famous because of it’s urban beaches, the statue of Jesus and of course the carnival. I wonder why the government and other organizations are pushing Rio but not Sao Paulo

Rio is the prettiest city. That’s why! Sao Paulo is seen as at ”another” part of Brazil, like it don’t belong to the rest of the country.

Sao Paolo looks like a very beautiful city, Celso, and the buildings remind me too of Spain and Italy with a little bit of fifties-style New York (third photo down) thrown in for good measure. The result is unique.

I am so pleased for the people of Sao Paolo who, as you say, are having a rough time of it for the moment....This must have been good for the morale of everyone.

Sao Paolo, as any other city with 20 million people, has a lot of problems! But good things happen too. This event, which put together 4 million people is one example.

It’s a 24 hour party in which all kinds of people can celebrate with each other.

You can actually feel like a ”citizen” and only one more in the middle of a giant place.

Interesting piece of information about Sao Paolo Celso,I had never heard of this festival earlier. You don’t need to explain the number of people, your pictures express it all.
